Begumpet is one of the major commercial and residential suburbs in Hyderabad, India.
The Greenlands flyover connects the city of Hyderabad to this area. The Bowenpally Road in Secunderabad provides access to the region.
Begumpet was a small suburb between Hyderabad and Secunderabad. The expansion of commercial activity further north of Hyderabad has made Begumpet a shopping nerve centre. It was home to the old airport.

[edit] Commercial area
Begumpet has developed into a commercial district in Hyderabad. The region is home to many government and corporate offices. There are shopping malls, medical centres, local shopping markets, etc. notable malls being Shoppers' Stop, Lifestyle, Mebaz etc.
There are some sites with historical importance and constitute visiting places for the tourists. Sir Ronald Ross Institute, built in 1895, is one such example. The institute is one famous study centre around that served as a military hospital in the past. It earned reputation in the academic circles, in the state and beyond.
There are many software companies like Satyam Computers, Yash Technologies, Pramata Techonologies are located here.

Begumpet has a Railway station, which provides connectivity to various parts of the city through MMTS, as well as the state.
The state-owned APSRTC runs the city bus service, connecting to all the major centres of the city.
Autos and taxis provide convenient transport. There are bus stops opposite to the Hyderabad Public School, beside Indira Priya Darshini Government Degree College for Women, Begumpet. For ease of traffic flow on the main road, a foot-over-bridge at HPS is now operational.

The Begumpet Airport is major landmark of the city. It was initially the flying club of the Nizams. Due to its limited capacity, the new Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad is now operational. The Begumpet airport is now closed for commercial flights, and is operational only for training and chartered flights only.
The well-known Hotel Manohar (soon to be Radisson Hotel Manohar) is also located here.
St. Francis women's college, one of the early and famous colleges in the city is also located here.
There is a recent surge in real estate development in this region. Commercial activity has increased here due to the construction of new malls, corporate houses etc.

The Hyderabad Public School(H.P.S)is regarded as one of the best schools in Hyderabad. The Gitanjali group of schools in Begumpet comprises four schools: Gitanjali senior school, Gitanjali junior school, Gitanjali devshala and Gitanjali devashray.
Mahila Dhyan Vidya Peet is a government aided institution having a school as well as a college.
Indira Priya Darshini Government Degree College for Women, Begumpet is also located in the district.
