This was a special SS unit which was created for guarding government and Nazi-party buildings.[1] It was also an escort team, used to escort high ranking government officials.[2] The soldiers that served in the Begleitkommando-SS were considered highly trained special ops that was created by the Schutzstaffel to provide better protection for high ranking military officials, like Hitler, Mussolini, Reichsführer-SS, and Reichsministers. They were also the personal bodygaurds of Adolf Hitler.[3][4] The main protectors of Hitler were the SS-Begleitkommando des Führers.[4] This unit was comprised of the top eight members of the Begleitkommando-SS. The Begleitkommando-SS cooperated with other units and organizations to take care of the protection of many people and buildings, in peace time it mainly worked with the police forces, like the Gestapo.[3] The SS-Begleitkommando des Führers was an elite group of the Begleitkommando-SS that was given the important task of guarding Adolf Hitler in the time of Nazi Germany.[3][4]
