Rebecca "Becky" Granger is a fictional character on the popular British ITV1 soap opera Coronation Street, and is played by actress Katherine Kelly.

She is the obsessive former friend of Kelly Crabtree, whom she framed for theft. Becky returned in November 2006, when she met Hayley Cropper who was her former workmate when Hayley was teaching at an ex-offenders literacy class.
[edit] Ex-offender?
An attempted relationship with a man named Robert apparently didn't quite work out for her in the way she had expected, as he was informed by Fiz and Kelly that she had been on the wrong side of the law in the past. After being reconciled with Hayley at a literacy night course, she promises Hayley that she'd cleaned up her act, to which she is offered employment at Roy's Rolls Cafe on a trial period. Becky is thrilled that Hayley is willing to put trust in her despite her actions in the past, much to the disgust of Kelly. However, it is not long before she soon begins breaking objects, threatening customers and stealing money from the till.

In January 2007, a prison acquaintance of Becky's who goes by the name of "Slug" came to the street, much to the discomfort of Becky initially. After drinking at The Rovers some days later, she agreed to joyride Roy and Hayley's newly acquired vintage Morris Minor with him. After appearing late for work the next day and with Roy hearing from the police that the car had been recovered with her coat on the back seat, she ended up taking the blame for the crime, consequentally losing their trust and subsequently her job.

After begging Hayley for forgiveness by gift offering, Hayley adamantly refused. Not long after this, Roy's cafe caught fire whilst Roy and Hayley were in The Rovers. Cab driver Lloyd went in to see if anyone was trapped inside and carried Becky out of the flames. Hayley and Roy came rushing up and, to their horror, found that their home and cafe were on fire. With Becky being the only person to appeared to have been in there at the time, incorrect assumptions were made that she was responsible. The next day Becky showed up at The Rovers to once again beg for forgiveness to Hayley because she was innocent, but Hayley told her what she thought of her and that everything that came out of her mouth is a lie.
Later on, Hayley went back to the cafe and asked the fireman whether he had determined the cause of the fire, to which he responded with assurance that arson was not responsible, and that it was merely an electrical fault in the deep fryer, proving Becky's innocence. Hayley then rushed to Becky and explained that she now knew Becky had nothing to do with it and apologised for doubting her word, but Becky was not willing to forgive. She gave Hayley the present for her car which had been refused the prior day, and left. Hayley went to find Becky in the hostel pleading with her for forgiveness. After a small heart-to-heart, Hayley and Becky decided to remain friends and Hayley offered Becky her job back at Roy's Rolls, to which Becky accepted.

When Hayley found out she has a son, instead of confiding in her husband Roy she confided in Becky. Becky suggested that Hayley hired a private detective who ended up tracking down Hayley's son Christian Gately and found out that he owned a music shop. Hayley eventually plucked up her courage to visit her son and went into the music shop. Instead of saying anything about her being his father she bought a CD from him. It was on her second visit that she lied and told him that she was his aunt, too shy to tell him the truth.
Hayley did eventually tell Roy about having a son but he felt deceived as she had told him that she was a virgin when she was both Harold and Hayley. He pressurized her to tell her son the truth as her lies piled higher and higher (she told Christian that his father was dead). When Christian came into the cafè telling Hayley that he wanted to visit his father's grave she told him that he was cremated instead, making Roy furious. She took Christian to where his father was 'cremated' before revealing that in fact Christian's father was alive. It wasn't long afterwards Hayley revealed that she wasn't his aunt but his father. Christian went mad and lashed out at Hayley when she tried to stop him getting away from her before running off. This caused problems in her and Roy's marriage as it was Roy who forced her to reveal the truth to her son.
On 1st October Becky went round to the music shop without Roy and Hayley (they went away to sort out their now rocky marriage) and left the cafè in the hands of Blanche Hunt. Once at the shop she confronted and then attacked Christian, getting her revenge on him for what he did to Hayley. Once Becky calmed down she pointed out to Christian what a nice person Hayley was, and that Hayley would never have set out to hurt him on purpose.
[edit] Relationship with Jason Grimshaw
Over the last few months Becky, on numerous occasions has flirted with Jason Grimshaw and even though he seemed oblivious, Sarah Grimshaw was getting suspicious. However after Sarah wrongly accused Jason, the flirting seemed to have died down. However after Sarah's departure without Jason, New Years Eve came and on the stroke of midnight Becky and Jason shared a lingering kiss in the back of the pub.
On February 4, 2008, Becky and Jason slept with each other. However the next day Jason realises its a mistake and decides to go to Italy to try to make things right with Sarah. As he opens the doors to his house he finds a furious Gail, who has already learnt of Jason's one-night-stand with Becky, after Audrey sees Becky kiss Jason as she leaves his house "the morning after". He assures Gail that its Sarah he wants not Becky. Gail threatens him that she may tell Sarah. Meanwhile, Becky has already imformed everyone in Roy's Rolls that she is seeing Jason. When Jason returns from Milan, with a split lip, he reveals that he and Sarah are finished for good, after he told her about him and Becky, much to Gail's disappointment. Although still depressed he realises he has to face Becky. As he enters Roy's Rolls, Becky calmly puts down the plates she is carrying and punches Jason in the face. Lloyd takes her home to calm down.
Becky later helped Kirk Sutherland when Chesney was taken into care after Claire reported them. She later had an argument in the Rovers, with Norris and Claire.
On March 24 she moved in with Roy as lodger. She also began a full time relationship with Jason.
On June 11 Becky will cheat on Jason with Steve McDonald after Jason keeps on avoiding her and Steve has a row with his girlfriend Michelle Connor.

In April 2008 it was revealed that Becky will become the 50th barmaid at the Rovers Return.[1]
