BART:

1. There were a lot of villages destroyed in WWI, not just at Verdun. The lack of current linkages doesn't mean this category isn't needed. Rather, it means there's more work to do.

2. Part of the Wikipedia philosophy is to build a little more each day...sometimes we add on to what is already started, sometimes we start something new. You shouldn't destroy a reasonable category just because its in its infancy. Give the baby a chance to develop first. → R Young {yakłtalk} 17:54, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

But you really should create that particular category first before adding it to whatever article, Robert. Extremely sexy 20:59, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
This is correct - sure, create new relevant categories, but don't populate them until they exist! This helps to prevent someone making up one name for a particular category, someone else making up another name and another person making up a third name for the same category. And red links in category sections look rubbish! Mr WR 13:25, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Why was this moved from "France" to Marne? Any reason for this name change?→ R Young {yakłtalk} 08:59, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Because the Marne category is a much sharper sub-sub-sub-subcategory of the France category Mr WR 13:25, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Also, some have claimed that 'all' villages that were destroyed in France in WWI were at the Somme. In fact, that is not true. It would be helpful if someone could better link this and all the other 'orphaned' village articles out there.→ R Young {yakłtalk} 18:12, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
