Talk:Beating up
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I removed this speedy-delete notice from page Beating up because this deletion request is obviously frivolous, or mistaken. I have never been banned and I am not User:WikiWoo. If someone does not like the article, please discuss it properly here.

See my answer in User_talk:UtherSRG#Beating_up. Anthony Appleyard 17:26, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- That's not a speedy. Also, moving it here is more than needed. Simply removig it from the article was good enough. - UtherSRG (talk) 17:47, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Requested move
- Beating up → Beating — While beating up in certainly in use in coloquial speech, beating is more concise, intuitive (for search) and in keeping with the gerund usage suggested in WP:NAME. Beating already redirects here. —Esprit15d (talk ¤ contribs) 15:42, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

None of the above, Delete or Transwiki as dicdef.Patstuarttalk|edits 16:36, 8 December 2006 (UTC)- The usual term is "beating up", or slang equivalents such as "working over" etc.
Beating-up is all too common as an unofficial means of enforcement etc, and in my opinion there is more to it than merely saying what the word means. Leave the page where it is. With time the page will likely grow and become more comprehensive. Hold your horses. Anthony Appleyard 17:48, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
- I'm concerned that beating is not the appropriate target for this article, as that should possible be a disambiguation page for beat-in (gang initiation), beat (music), beat (acoustics), domestic violence, masturbation, etc. Maybe this term should be a redirect to assault? -- nae'blis 19:19, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
- Not all forms of assault involve beating-up. Read a few crime stories. For example, if the victim is merely grabbed and handcuffed and bundled into the back of a van. Anthony Appleyard 07:08, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
- Beating is now a disambig page. Anthony Appleyard 10:20, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose - beating up is more common, and the disambig page is appropriate. Although we could actually move it to Beat down :P -Patstuarttalk|edits 14:49, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

- And I am against a recent suggestion to merge with Battery (crime). Anthony Appleyard 05:47, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
