This is a very historic pub, probably the oldest in Oxford, and should not be deleted in my view. (The Bear Inn was originally a coaching inn, established in 1242!) I have added more information on this aspect and further external links. I hope this is enough to save it from deletion! Jonathan Bowen 19:57, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

I do not believe that this article should be deleted. As has been mentioned by Jpbowen the pub has a lot of history and is well worthy of its own article. There seems to be quite a thing at the moment on WP of people wanting to delete articles about historic pubs. They form a key element of our english history and deserve a mention. --Newton2 21:46, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Name and dates

Derek Honey's guide says "In 1432 it changed to the Bear Inn, after Richard Neville, Earl of Warwick (1428-71)". Presumably 1432 is a mistake. Omassey (talk) 18:28, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
