From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Description: Reconstruction of a 1903 lecture given by Professor William Bayliss during which anti-vivisectionists said a dog was vivisected without anaesthetic. Bayliss sued for libel (successfully), and the lecture was reconstructed for the court during the November 1903 trial in London. See Brown Dog affair. The image was published by several newspapers in 1903 while reporting on the trial.

Copyright holder: Not known. Probably the Royal Courts of Justice, where the trial was held, the Bayliss defence team, or the National Anti-Vivisection Society, which was being sued.
