[edit] Academics

In 2008 Bayside began an Engineering magnet program known as Bayside Engineering and Technology Academy (BETA).[1]

[edit] History

Bayside opened in August 1998 with grades 9 and 10. Grade 11 was added in 1999, grade 12 in 2000.

On May 12, 2008, the school was evacuated, threatened by a city-wide fire. The school was closed the following day along with other schools in the Palm Bay area.[2]

[edit] Building and Growth

The school is based on a design by Schenkel Shultz.[3] The final estimated cost was just over $10 million. The school will soon be undergoing a major addition consisting of a classroom building and an auditorium. The project began in summer of 2007 and is expected to take 18 to 24 months to complete.

[edit] Recognition

  • For the 2006-2007 School year Bayside was rated for the first time as an "A" school under the Florida A++ plan. The school had been rated a "B" for the previous 4 years.
