[edit] German empire or Prussia?

I reverted back to German empire as the German empire was proclaimed the day before the battle. The battle took place on January 19, 1871 whereas William was proclaimed German emperor in Versailles on January 18. This would then make the first battle fought by the new empire. -- fdewaele, 30 December 2007, 13:10.
