A common definition of "alumni" are persons who have attended or graduated from a particular school. I doubt that most persons think that individuals who later receive an honorary degree from a college or university properly are called "alumni" of that institution. The page "Bates College Alumni" contains very many such persons: Robert Frost, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Freeman Dyson, Ken Burns, etc. who did not attend that college although they did later receive honorary degrees.
This may well be a problem with other college alumni pages.
