The Battle of Yindurupilly was an 1861 battle fought by colonial Australian squatters against the two local united indigenous tribes the Jagera and Turrbal[1] in the area of what is now known as Indooroopilly, in the state of Queensland. The battle takes its name from the aboriginal word for "water flowing through creek" or "gully" because of the place where the battle was fought. The squatters, led by the English immigrant Edward Pierce suffered heavy losses with only 3 making their way to safety[2]. Edward Pierce survived the battle, but did not venture back to the area.
