The 1530 battle of Ozawahara was the first battle for Hōjō Ujiyasu, then fifteen years old. He faced Uesugi Tomooki. The battle was part of a seventeen-year struggle, which began with the 1524 siege of Edo, between the Hōjō clan and the Uesugi for control of the Kantō region.
