Battle of Loaders

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Battle of Loaders was a skirmish fought between forces loyal to the Empress Mathilda and the soldiers of King Stephen of England in the county of Dorset in 1139. Though Mithilda's troops were obliged to abandon the village on this occasion, the setback was only temporary: Stephen's men suffered a reversal at Poorstock (today known as Powerstock) three days later, which effectively ended military action in this part of the country for the remainder of the war.
