The Battle of Kampar was a major engagement of World War II between the 11th Indian Division and the Japanese 5th Division. The battle lasted from December 30, 1941 to January 2, 1942. The Japanese intended to capture Kampar as a New Year’s gift to Emperor Hirohito, but Allied forces managed to hold their position before withdrawing on January 2nd.
