The Battle of Happrew occurred in 1304 during the First War of Scottish Independence. A small Scottish force led by the legendary Scottish knight William Wallace encountered an army of English knights at Happrew, near Peebles, and was soundly defeated[1]. William Wallace, however, survived and became a fugitive, but he was soon to be captured and executed in 1305.
