Battered sausage

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Battered Sausages are a type of cuisine, found all across Ireland and the United Kingdom. They are similar in concept to a corn dog, but consist of a pork sausage, dipped in batter, (usually the same batter used to batter the fish), as they are primarily sold from fish and chips shops, and usually served with chips.

In the book series Ross O'Carroll-Kelly, which is set in Dublin, battered sausages are eaten by, what the book refers to as skangers. This is a reference to the stereotype of battered sausage eaters as working class, unintelligent and violent. In real life, this is not the case, and all sorts of people of all sorts of backgrounds enjoy battered sausages.
