[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Bas Ext 4.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Bas Ext 4.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BigDT 18:25, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Cardinal Keeler article
Thank you for your comment, Basilica1. Despite Cardinal Keeler's personal preferences (my great-uncle works in the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith), the use of "Cardinal" before the surname is still the proper title. For instance, when a new pope is announced, the Cardinal Protodeacon says "Cardinal" before the surname. Don't mean to sound, well, mean. Tajm, 9 April 2007, 16:19 (UTC)
[edit] Commercial use of Image:FPKeough.jpg
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:FPKeough.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:FPKeough.jpg is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).
If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.
If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.
If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:FPKeough.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. [edit] Image tagging for Image:JamesGibbons.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:JamesGibbons.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:MartinSpalding.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:MartinSpalding.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:39, 9 June 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. The Sunshine Man 17:39, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cardinal Keeler image
Greetings, Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia. I am wondering about the source of Image:Keeler1.jpg which you recently uploaded with a GNU license. Such a license requires that you, yourself, are the photographer and copyright holder.
If this is a diocesan press kit photo, on the other hand, the diocese is the copyright holder and only they can freely license it. If the latter is the case, I'd be happy to advise the rather tedious steps to take, having gone through it myself. JGHowes talk - 21:39, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
- Fine, then the Archdiocese of Baltimore as copyright holder needs to send a permission on their letterhead signed by an authorized official to OTRS. This also applies to Image:EdwinO'Brien.jpg, should you wish to re-upload it using this license. It was deleted as a non- Fair Use image.
See also WP:COPYREQ#When permission is confirmed JGHowes talk - 05:31, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
The email address for OTRS is: permissions-en@wikimedia.org
- Just email the following statement to the Wikimedia Communications Committee at that address, preferably as an email attachment on diocesan letterhead in .DOC format. It should sail right through.
On behalf of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Baltimore, we hereby assert that the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Baltimore is the creator and sole owner of the exclusive copyright of the image at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Keeler1.jpg
We agree to publish that work under the free license {{attribution|[[Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Baltimore}}.
We acknowledge that we grant anyone the right to use the work in a commercial product, and to modify it according to their needs.
We are aware that the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Baltimore always retain copyright of this work, and retains the right to be attributed in accordance with this license. Modifications others may make to the work will not be attributed to us.
We are aware that this free license only concerns copyright of this image, and we reserve the option to take action against anyone who uses this work in a libelous way, or in violation of personality rights, trademark restrictions, etc.
We acknowledge that we cannot withdraw this agreement, and that the image may or may not be kept permanently on a Wikimedia project.

[edit] Fair use disputed for Image:AOBSeal.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:AOBSeal.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:23, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:EdwinO'Brien.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:EdwinO'Brien.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. [edit] Better source request for Image:AOBSeal.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:AOBSeal.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talkpage. Thank you. OsamaK (talk) 19:20, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
