St. Peter's Basilica

Deutsch: Zeichnung bzw. zeichnerische Rekonstruktion der konstantinischen Basilika über dem Grab des heiligen Petrus. Die Darstellung zeigt laut Bildtext die Bausubstanz um 1450. Im Hintergrund rechts ist allerdings die Sixtinische Kapelle zu erkennen, mit deren Bau erst 1475 begonnen und die 1483 vollendet wurde. Da die Grundsteinlegung für den neuen Petersdom 1506 erfolgte, zeigt die Zeichnung also den Zustand zwischen 1483 und 1506. Zeichnung von H.W.Brewer, 1891
