Talk:Baron Samedi
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"He has a white" what? I'd edit it, but I don't know what noun is intended. "Face"?

[edit] popular culture sightings
Is the popular culture sightings section really necessary? Baron Samedi is a god; it seems rather ridiculous to have detailed information about his appearance as a random villain in a video game, not to mention details about how he needs to be killed as a character in the videogame. I'd like to remove this section, which really only reflects that the page was created by somebody interested in the game. Deborah-jl 15:26, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Not just a game, but an Ian Fleming novel and film. Nevertheless, I moved it to Baron Samedi (James Bond). I don't know how long it'll stay there though. At some point I'd like to merge some of these "henchmen" together. At some point.. K1Bond007 17:08, Jun 6, 2005 (UTC)
- There's two many crap sightings or whatever in comparison to the article. Considering on my monitor at the resolution I'm at, the article itself is barely half a page, but there's three pages of trivial crap. While it's interesting that his image is being used in other forms of media, I say all this should be moved to something like Baron Samedi in Popular Culture, Loa in Popular Culture or even Voodoo in Popular Culture.69.64.10.249 13:00, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
- I removed the entire section. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a collection of random irrelevant trivia. - ∅ (∅), 15:06, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] =
Baron's other name is Baron Cimetié which is a ebonical-type derivation of cimetière, "cemetary". Perhaps the name Samedi (Saturday) is a linguistic side-step from Cimetié (cemetary).
"Ebonical?" How about Haitian Creole (Kreyol?) which is a legitimate language? (It is usually spelled Cimitye or Simitye in the official style).
[edit] reference style is off
It's good that there are references, but there should be notation as to what facts are from what source
[edit] tobacco
Baron Samedi has predilection for tobacco and rum. A certain sign of Baron Samedi's possesion is that he answer for tobacco and rum when He takes the body. I've seen documental videos and hell, they're really terryfing. Must say too that a place to invoquee this loa must be near cementeries. Had change : put not love but sex (...) and that of tobacco.
[edit] The Actor
I noticed in the part where it mentions Baron Samedi in th Nightmare/Atmosfear series it says that the name of the actor has never been revealed. It is Wenanty Nosul who also played The Gatekeeper. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 222.152.31.227 (talk) 03:50, 15 March 2007 (UTC).
