Barred Owl Bend is a privately owned botanical garden (5.4 acres) and bird sanctuary located in Pittsboro, North Carolina that is devoted to collecting and testing only the highest quality perennials, shrubs and trees and allowing natural conditions to determine hybrid development with minimal human intervention.

The gardens are built around naturally occurring formations, and unusual plant species and cultivars are sited alongside their native counterparts that have been established and undisturbed for decades.

The gardens currently contain over 5,000 plants with extensive collections that are listed below.

Over 110 species of native birds have been seen and recorded within the garden. Most notably are the barred owls that encircle the property and make it their home and hunting grounds.
