Bard Prison Initiative
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Bard Prison Initiative (BPI) is a program sponsored by Bard College to provide a liberal arts degree to incarcerated individuals in five different prisons in the U.S. State of New York. It currently enrolls nearly 200 students.[1] Since federal funding for prison education programs was eliminated in 1995,[2] the BPI is one of the only college degree granting programs available in U.S. prisons.[1]
