Baptes

The Baptes were priests of the Greek goddess Cottytus. The word comes from the Greek verb meaning "to wash". The Baptes practised obscene ceremonies at night; they included orgies so hedonistic that even Cottytus herself was disgusted.^{[citation needed]}
