The English Wikipedia is anglophone indeed, but one of the founding principles of Wikipedia is not to do original research. The English names of some of the parties used in the article are completely invented, or crude translation not used elsewhere. For example, Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh, in their official english language website, do not use the translation "Bangladesh Islamic Assembly".[1]. Google searches for that exact name show only 252 hits, most of which are wikipedia mirrors. So, why would that name used here? I don't see any justification for "translation". Does anyone translate "Bharatiya Janata Party" as "Indian People's Party"? In almost all English language news, both in and outside Bangladesh, use Jamaat rather than using a translation.

Also, the name "National Party" is very misleading. I tried going even going to the 10th page of google search for "National Party" Bangladesh. Not a single reference (other than wikimirrors of this template). The official English language website of Jatiya party [2] does not mention National party for even once.

So, trying to make "English" language names for proper nouns is only original research, and as such, should not be used in wikipedia.

A small sidenote, It took me quite a long time to figure out that "Bangladesh People's Party" was referring to Awami League. In the 60 year history of the party, almost no one, both in and out of Bangladesh, both in Bangla and English. According the English language webpage of the Bangladesh Election Commision, Bangladesh People's Party is the name of another party (BPP). So, I'm switching the template to actual English language names of the parties, rather than some crude translations. Thanks. --Ragib 23:12, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

Of course, I am fine with the English names provided beside the links in parentheses. The original wikilinks should use official names of the parties, (as can be seen from many sources as well as the official english language websites of the parties). --Ragib 23:21, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

How come the BNP and the BAL got nearly the same number of votes but BNP has over thrice more seats? Is there something I'm missing here?
