This is a documentation subpage for Template:Banned user (see that page for the template itself).
It contains usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page.

This template adds articles to Category:Banned Wikipedia users. It should not be used for normal blocks; rather, it is for legitimate accounts that have been banned after due consideration.

Note: all parameters are optional.

  • time specifies the time for which the user was banned. For example, {{banned|time=1 year}} results in
This user is banned from editing Wikipedia for a period of 1 year.

Alternatively, {{banned|time=indef}} (or indefinite, or indefinitely) may be used, resulting in
This user is banned indefinitely from editing Wikipedia.

  • by specifies how and why the user was banned. For example, {{banned|time=indef|by=[[Wikipedia:Community sanction noticeboard/Archive10#Tobias Conradi|the community]]}} results in
This user has been banned indefinitely from editing Wikipedia by the community.
