[edit] Relationship to Lake Bangweulu page

What was the reason for splitting this page off from Lake Bangweulu? Lake and swamps are one system, and you can only treat the swamps comprehensively together with the lake. This page seems to exist just to hold information about the wildlife of the southern floodplain (note that it doesn't include the crocodiles and hippos of the swamp proper) and the Shoebill, with an underlying plea for conservation ("wetlands" being a conservation term which you don't hear 'on the ground' in Zambia). With the demise of Isangano National Park, the pressure of the Samfya-Serenje road and migration of ex-miners from the Copperbelt, I'm sure this is a serious problem, but this page doesn't really seem to have the purpose its title suggests. (Incidentally what is meant by the 'Bangweulu Swamps wetlands reserve'? Isangano NP?). Perhaps the page should be titled "Conservation in the Bangweulu Wetlands"?Rexparry sydney 23:54, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

I decide to change to "Bangweulu Welands ecosystem" and add conservation issues.Rexparry sydney 03:39, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
