[edit] Proposed merge with Hindawi Programming System
This article provides no third-party reliable source for any information about BangaBhasha. The sole website reference is to company which originates the project, and their website links to BangaBasha are dead anyway: http://www.indicybers.com/hindawi/index.htm http://www.indicybers.com/eng_hindawi.html
I note that the SourceForge project page is seemingly abandoned - http://sourceforge.net/projects/hindawi - with virtually no content, three developers and the admin is hi_pedler which is the name used by the editor who made these pages. WP:COI. I do not know how this Sourceforge project could be less active.
According to http://www.hindawi.in/en_US/about_hindawi.php BangaBasha is a derivation of Hindawi Programming System.
According to this email http://mail.sarai.net/pipermail/prc/20070628/001586.html BangaBasha is heavily related with to Abhishek Choudhary and HPS and hi_pedler at yahoo.com is a primary contact... meaning this handle is for Abhishek Choudhary or Sweta Choudhary. WP:COI.
I am having a hard time justifying not WP:AfD or WP:CSD in this case... this is clearly content which is not independently sourced and amounts to publishing a press release. --Marcinjeske (talk) 23:30, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
- I should add, a Google for BangaBhasha programming -wiki -wikipedia yields only a handful or results, most of them to copies of the Wikipedia article and a few messageboard posts promoting BangaBhasha. Google News? Don't even think about it.--Marcinjeske (talk) 23:44, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] অবাক পৃথিবী অবাক করলে তুমী!!!
Oh wow! my friend wonderful. That sounds like solid research. Can I use some of your research on the Hindawi Programming System page please! Brother if you do understand the next line let me know since even after seeing your immense intellectual abilities above I distrust you not to understand the following - হে বং ভান্ডারে তব বিবিধ রতন - তা সবে অবোধ আমি অবহেলা করি! Well my friend I say agree with you in parts, I still have some disagreements with you - but then on Wiki one does not have freedom of speech!
1. Merging this article into Hindawi is probably not that bad an idea after all. Languages of the world unite! But consider the fact that there are seperate entries for different versions of software. Internally Hindawi and BangaBhasha are pretty different. Yet functionality wise let us delibrate on whether these two articles should be merged.
2. If you are having a hard time to justify not AfD, then why trouble yourself my dear friend. Go ahead do it. But before that try to justify whether you are the right person to decide the fact. The challenge line above in Bangla is just a famous poem by [[1]] Madhusudan Dutta - it means "O my motherland of Bangladesh, your treasure trove is full of jewels, but I ignore them like a fool and run after mirages" (this is translation is essence not word by word). Now Brother, or Sister I beg your pardon if I am wrong, if you do not understand this simple one line in Bangla how do you claim that there is no reference for BangaBhasha.
3. Please assume good faith Brother / Sister. If from your id on Wikipedia I cannot make out whether I should refer to you as a brother or as a sister then how can you draw such conclusions as "this handle is for Abhishek Choudhary or Sweta Choudhary". My dear friend, hi_pedler is a common term, maybe not in your circles but with Indic developers. I actually did a quick search and found the email id choudhary@indicybers.net as belonging to either Abhishek or Sweta Choudhary.
Anyway do not mind my logic. Go ahead enjoy your free discretion. And do not mind my calling you a Brother or Sister - that's the way we do refer to people in Bangla - it does not refer to a monk in our language. Just one request - try and learn Bangla. Then you will be able to find more references to BangaBhasha. You will be able to program in that language. Moreover you will be able to read the wonder poem I referred to earlier. That poem actually shares this name BangaBhasha. Probably a disambiguation page is a good idea.
Peace be with you! Hi pedler (talk) 18:22, 16 April 2008 (UTC)hi_pedler
- That sounds like a beautiful poem... reminds me of Pan Tadeusz, which may hold a similar place in people's hearts and begins (translated): "Lithuania, my country! You are as good health:/ How much one should prize you, he only can tell/ Who has lost you."
- 1. I am glad you show openness to merging this into the HPS page. If there are separate entries somewhere for versions of software that are not notable on their own, I would encourage you to mark them for merge as I have done with BangaBhasha. (for example, even though Windows Vista is only a version of Windows, it is notable on its own because of siginificant coverage specific to Windows Vista in the press). There is no source in the article about the internal differences, so I have to rely on only http://www.hindawi.in/en_US/about_hindawi.php for that... is that an untrustworthy source?
- 2. Well, I am not the right person to justify deleting the article... that is why my gut reaction is to refer it to AfD. But I am hoping a merge is a more agreeable option. As to claiming there to no sources, well, 1) the article lists no third party sources, and 2) I looked for them. If you are aware of any third party reliable sources about BangaBasha the programming environment, please add them to the article so that they may be known. As to trying to justify the notability of BangaBasha the programming toolkit written by Mr. Choudhary by referencing the Bangla Basha, the Bengali Language which already has and should have a proper encyclopedic page, that is pointless. The programming tool needs to stand on its own merits. I specifically checked for sources on the toolkit. Do not try to confuse the issue.
- Michael Madhusudan Dutt does not seem to discuss this particular poem, maybe you should improve that page.
- 3. Trust me when I say that if I did not assume plenty of good faith, I would have recommended WP:CSD a long time ago. Based on one of the few sources of information I found, Mr. Choudhary uses the online handle hi_pedler:
Authors 02:03, 17 April 2008 (UTC)~~ 1. Abhishek Choudhary* 2. Sweta Choudhary * (Primary contact: hi_pedler at yaXXX.com, Mobile: +91-9860XXXXXX
- The Yahoo Profile is more precise:
Yahoo! ID: hi_pedler Real Name: Abhishek Choudhary
- The only uses of hi_pedler on the Internet I can find are to hi_pedler@yaXXX.Xom, often claiming to be Mr. Choudhary, and usually promoting one or more of HPS-derived software. Therefore I doubt that hi_pedler is a commonly used handle.
- That is coincidentally your Wikipedia handle, but I am doing my best from letting that "coincidence" cloud my judgement, otherwise Wikipedia policies on WP:COI would help justify a deletion.
- But I must admit, the more I need to look around to respond to you points, the more information I find that leads me to doubt the notability of all of this.
- Because this is the English language Wikipedia, there is a distinct disadvantage for WP:VUE non-english sources. If there truly is no source written so as to be understandable by at least a fair subset of Wikipedia editors, then it may be more appropriate to document these in a different Wikipedia and not the English one. But before that is even an issue, you need these sources to exist... they do not.
- Further, because this is the English language Wikipedia, we use the common English spelling of Bangla for the language.
- By the way, does BangaBasha toolkit use shadhu basha or cholti basha. Unfortunately, my browser does not render Bengali script well.
- Friend, I sincerely hope for your karma that you too are discussing this in good faith. --Marcinjeske (talk) 02:03, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
