[edit] Preceding constituencies

In the article I read and As created in 1983, the constituency was largely a replacement for East Aberdeenshire and Preceded by Banffshire. Perhaps, as created in 1983, Banff and Buchan covered parts of both of the former constituencies? Laurel Bush 11:16, 14 July 2007 (UTC).

Yes. The previous constituency of Banffshire would have included Banff and the other parts of what is now Aberdeenshire district that were historically in Banffshire. The parts of Banffshire that are now in Moray district would have become part of the Moray constituency. East Aberdeenshire was split between Banff and Buchan constituency and Gordon constituency.
