Bannerman Park
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bannerman Park is a Victorian-style urban park located in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. The park was officially opened in 1891 by Sir Alexander Bannerman, Governor of the Colony of Newfoundland from 1857 to 1864 , who donated the land to create the park. [1]
Today, the park is surrounded by historic buildings and Victorian bed and breakfasts. It contains a public swimming pool, playground, a baseball diamond and many large open grassy areas.
Bannerman Park plays host to many festivals, most notably the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival and St. John's Peace-a-chord.
