I value Wikipedia as a source of information and yet acknowledge its occasionally partial nature. It's a wonderful social experiment. We should remember, however, that it is offered to the Public for free and yet must cost a formidable amount of money to keep up. While the dot com millionaires are willing to sponsor it, it will flourish. If it were ever to fall on hard times, I would worry about commercial interests taking over. Heaven forbid we should ever have to endure advertising here.

I am very new to the process of actually contributing to Wikipedia, and any errors I make are entirely due to ignorance rather than malice.

Although I maintain partisan opinions on a range of subjects, who doesn't? Judges, jurors and politicians may all have personal views on a range of subjects and yet we rely on them to act pragmatically and with a due regard to facts.

Thus it is with people who contribute to Wikipedia. I think it's very important to maintain enough integrity to ensure that what we put up onto Wikipedia doesn't become a soapbox. You'll never find me removing something because I disagree with it, although you'll find me adding material to provide balance if I think someone has only put one side to an issue (the classic example being people from organisations obviously writing their own pages and omitting controversies they are party to). If it's factual, relevent and succinct, you'll have no objection from me.

I maintain my primary we prescence at my blog at [1]
