Sergei Prokofiev completed eight ballets (The incomplete ballet Ala i Lolli was abandoned and transformed into the Scythian Suite instead). The first five were short ballets, written when he was in the West. The last three (Romeo and Juliet, Cinderella, and The Tale of the Stone Flower), were written when he returned to live in Russia, with each of them lasting for about 2 hours.
