Baldev Raj Gupta (Baladwa Rāja Gupatā), b 1942 in Pakistan, earned his Ph D at times when the family shifted from Pakistan and started from scratch.
A polyglot, Baldev, besides a Doctorate in Punjabi Linguistics, holds mastery over Tamil, French, Urdu, Dogri, and Sanskrit. He has taught in Punjabi University, Annamalai University and Jammu University on varied subjects.
Honoured by Ministry of Culture, Govt of India and Ministry of HRD, Govt of India, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.
He figures on Academic boards and Advisory Committees of several literary and cultural organisations.
Has over a dozen books to his credit. Awarded Books include - Research in Indian Linguistics; Bhasha Vigyan - Bhashiki; Bhasha Vigyan te Punjabi Bhasha di Bantar.
