Bakuda

Bakuda, Uju Ume's first successful manga, is a story about a fourteen-year old girl named Mizuki Royama who has problems with bullies and mean girls in her school, Chiguri High, and personal problems such as her mother's death and her father's ignorance. To get away from these problems, she runs away into an uncharted jungle that happens to be full of Kumorians, an alien race. On her arrival, she mets a red headed royal Kumorian named Tai-Tai, who wants to eat her, just to know how an actual human tastes like. Mizuki runs around in the jungle trying to get away from him and to her aid comes Tai-Tai's younger brother, Bakuda. Bakuda himself has personal problems like the curses put upon him and his royal family and the death of his fiancee, Takara. At the end of saving Mizuki, Bakuda introduces her to his grandfather, Jinsei. Soon the two teenagers tell about each other about their life stories. Unknown to Mizuki, she reminds him of Takara, but he doesn't let that affect their relationship. Mizuki spends the night at the palace and the next day decides to stay with Bakuda forever at the jungle, but first she must take care of some things at her school.
