Bairro da Matriz (Mother/First Quarter) is a neighourhood of the portuguese city of Póvoa de Varzim. it is the historical district of the city.

Bairro da Matriz was a significant settlement in the 14th century, whose nucleus was the centre, whence the modern city grew, being a neighbourhood composed by old single family homes.

The main festivals of the neighbourhood are the Saint Anthony in June 13 in Cidral area; Matriz's Saint Peter in June 29, Senhor do Bonfim in Nova Sintra area, and Fest of Senhora das Dores in September 15.
