The first ever published photo of Bagram prison's interior: A 'Sally port' holds detainees before their transfer to cage cells.

[edit] Fair use rationale

  • This photo is said to be the first to be distributed taken from within the Bagram facility.
  • Conditions at Bagram have been reported to have been far more brutal, and primitive, than those at the more well-known Guantanamo Bay detention camp.
  • No other free equivalent image has been published -- unless this image was itself in the public domain...
  • Some commentators claim that Bagram has been reformed to the extent that captives are no longer housed in large communal cells that require a "sally port" -- in which case no further pictures are possible.
  • FWIW, I strongly suspect that this image really is in the public domain, and has been incorrectly attributed to private individuals.
