I think that the deletion of Vic is unethical. He is self-aware and can learn. To me he's a person. That was a major point in the show.

Race issues and Sisko in previous Star Trek episode are referred back to "Shadows and Symbols" - wasn't the episode with those issues explored in detail "Far Beyond the Stars"? Divinedegenerate 12:30, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
Not to mention Sisko is a lover of Earth history, and a fan of Baseball (a sport in which Blacks were not allowed to play at frst), so he is likely well versed in the history of racism, not to mention the 24th century is only a few hundred years in the future so its unlikely these things have been totally forgotten. In addition DS9 has been the series that explores the cracks in the facade of federation and exposes its dark underbelly.
