[edit] Plot
In this sequel to The Secret Garden Thirteen-year-old, Lizzy Buscana, an American girl, comes to live at Misselthwaite Manor, now a home for war orphans. The manor is owned by Lady Mary and Sir Colin, who first discovered the secret garden as children. When they are traveling abroad, the care of the manor is left to Martha (Plowright), a dour, superstitious housekeeper who keeps the garden locked and untended, which many felt was contrary to the Martha in the original novel. When energetic young Lizzy comes to stay, she finds the magical place that is now dying of a broken heart. Therefore, she and a few other students decide to act, and after a couple of arguments, they eventually take all the children into the garden to play, and therefore, fixes the garden, just as Lady Mary and Sir Colin Return.
The film disappointed many of the fans by the way in which it undermined the original characters and the British nation in general.
