Das Bild wurde südlich des Plattenbaugebietes Prohlis im Südosten von Dresden aufgenommen. Die Babisnauer Pappel steht auf einem Vorausläufer der entfernteren Mittelgebirge. Zwischen ihr und der Stadt liegt das Lockwitztal, Dresden-Lockwitz.
