Ernest Gordon Phelps (April 19, 1908 - December 10, 1992) born in Odenton, Maryland, United States was a Catcher for the Washington Senators (1931), Chicago Cubs (1933-34), Brooklyn Dodgers (1935-41) and Pittsburgh Pirates (1942).
He helped the Dodgers win the 1941 National League Pennant.
He was named to the 1938-40 National League All-Star Teams.
He finished 18th in voting for the 1936 National League MVP for playing in 115 Games and having 319 At Bats, 36 Runs, 117 Hits, 23 Doubles, 2 Triples, 5 Home Runs, 57 RBI, 1 Stolen Base, 27 Walks, .367 Batting Average, .421 On-base percentage, .498 Slugging Percentage and 159 Total Bases.
