B & B was a chain of grocery stores founded in Kalispell, Montana. The company operated their flagship store as a hypermarket.

[edit] Relation to Fred Meyer

In the 1960s the parent company of B&B, The Roundup Company of Spokane was acquired by Fred Meyer and converted into Fred Meyer stores by the mid 1980s. In 1998, when Fred Meyer acquired a few Montana locations of Buttrey Food & Drug and Albertsons the company renamed these stores Smith's Food & Drug and the company then decided to keep one name in Montana; thus the Montana Fred Meyer stores were converted to Fred Meyer owned Smith's Food & Drug stores. Because the size of the Kalispell store was determined too big for Smith's to use, which was caused by the store's past as a full size Fred Meyer, the store was then closed and demolished for a new smaller building which opened in 1999.
