I'm a second year college student here in California State University San Marcos.
I have joined as part of a class learning about research techniques and communication.
The Order of Santiago still exists under the Spanish crown. As of 1655 some of the new duties of the order is to defend the belief of the Immaculate Conception of Mary.[1] Currently the order has around 35 knights and 30 novices. Admission to the order is determined whether the applicant is of noble ancestry. Unitl 1653 the order checked the nobility of the applicants paternal grandparents. Now verification of noble ancestry for both paternal and maternal is used to determine entry to the order. Other qualifications to enter the order is that they are practicing Catholics, are of legitimate birth including the parents and grandparents, and that they are not decended from non-Christians.[2]
