Azerbaijan Border Guard

The Azerbaijan Border Guard is the second component of the Azerbaijan Army.

[edit] Establishment
It was established in 1997 by the decree of the president of Azerbaijan. Like the national guard of Azerbaijan the border guard is also operating as a semi-independent entity under command by the Azerbaijani Defense Department.
[edit] Mission
As the title suggest the main function of the border guard is to guard the Azerbaijani borders against any illegal acts. Preventing illegal arms, drugs and human trafficking in the country. The Azerbaijani border guard personnel are very well trained in NATO-standards and are the bureau amongst the best in the CIS.
