[edit] Name
I beg all of you not to revert my Lesbos edit in parantheses; no matter what we -Turks- claim about its name, that island is known as Lesbos all over the world and our reverts will not change the truth. We will surely keep the Turkish name Midilli next to it. Thanks in advance. Smyrniot 18:41, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Objections!
In my opinion the history part of this article is not really objective. History is not presented in a neutral way. The ancient Greek and Byzantine history of the region are almost neglected (apart from the reference regarding the "Byzantine times"). Moreover there is much more to be written about the late history of Ayvalik (ancient Kydonies), more elements such as population figures could be added. I think that the "Turkish war of independence" should be changed to "Greco-Turkish War (1919-1922)". I will not do any other changes as I might be criticised as subjective because of the fact that I am Greek... Petros The Hellene 21:56, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
