[edit] Suffering Greeks?

The article claims that Greeks suffered in Aydin. No reference, no example event.. nothing.. just somebody told they were. I know that city very well so if there is noone around which would come up something supporting the article, Im going to remove the "suffering Greeks" story. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Lardayn (talk • contribs) 08:32, 7 April 2007 (UTC).

There is no reference for Turkish also, interesting how you only want to remove "Greek" shows the bias on your part. And your comment on the edit summary [1] thats not racism, unless it is racism against Turks and Turks which is highly and unlikely. Artaxiad 08:37, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

I have evidence. There are many monuments in Aydın and many graves of Turks who were killed by Greeks. And also several books, I may give the names if you want.

I say again, I wont stop editing that nonsense, if you have a proof, right it down here.

From Chronology of the Turkish War of Independence: Battle of Aydın. Fires break out in one of the Turkish quarters of the city (Cuma quarter) and a massacre of civilians ensues, machine-gunned for no reason by the Greek troops. The Greek troops evacuate the city which will be controlled for four days by the efe under the leadership of Yörük Ali. The Greek quarter is burned in its turn and some among the Aydın Greek minority were killed or robbed during these four days while others survived thanks to the protection of Colonel Şefik Bey. Efe retreat back to the mountains after reportedly several thousands of casualties for each side. Khoikhoi 20:58, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

If the source said it, I had to reflect it. And it is published by the Turkish government. Greek army also caused Greek factories to burn in Aydın (it's in the report), but the first point to make was the butchery in Cuma mahallesi, which I made. And for the Turkish side, what primarily counts here is Colonel Şefik Bey's attitude (Şefik Aker who deserves an article on his own by the way, since he was a very notable soldier). Either we add the source in this article, or we keep the Battle of Aydın episode in summary form here with sufficient info given in the relevant article anyway. Bu arada, Lardayn! Khokhoi's referance tells that Greeks killed Greeks, still there is no offical referance of Turkish massacre in Aydın.--hnnvansier 12:38, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

I appreciate the last edits, but I will re-shift the info on figs to this page since the fruit is deeply associated with Aydın and it's like a brand name. (in the same manner as with apricots for Malatya). It will be easier for people to retain Aydın figs, rather than Aydın Province figs, although it's evident that they are produced across the province with Aydın remaining the center of their trade.
