Talk:Axis Theatre Company

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The theatre at 1 Sheridan Square is an historic space; an historic building (landmarked by the City of New York and is a stop on many tour guides' routes). As already stated in the article the theatre was a significant space in regard to anti-segregation ("Refusing to comply with the racial segregation laws that prevailed across the country, he invited both mixed race audiences and talent to Cafe Society...the club became a cultural phenomenon and jazz legends like Lena Horne, Sarah Vaughn, Art Tatum and Big Joe Turner all performed there".) and gay culture ("...headed by Charles Ludlam whose ground-breaking drag actors, pop culture flourishes and farcical comedy plays soon earned him a major cult following..."). Its place on Wikipedia's site is correct and obvious.
