Avel Louise Gordly is a Democratic member of the Oregon Senate, representing the 23rd District since 1996. Previously she was a member of the Oregon House of Representatives from 1991 through 1996. She left the Democratic Party in 2006, becoming a non-affiliated politician for the 2007 and 2008 legislative sessions. In 2008 she rejoined the Democratic Party to vote for Barack Obama.[1]
