Based in West Palm Beach, Florida, Authentium is a Delaware corporation that develops core operating system encapsulation, file and application defense, data interception and data analysis technologies. Authentium provides services to enterprise, government organizations, ISPs, and education institutions worldwide. The company's investors include Safeguard Scientifics (NYSE: SFE), Westbury Equity Partners, Bank of Middle East (Bahrain), and United Overseas Bank Venture Management.[1]
Authentium Inc acquired Command Software Systems Inc, developers of the Command Antivirus range of products, in September 2002. An SDK based on the Command Antivirus technology is widely-licensed within the security software industry. Licenses include Secure Computing,[2] Postini,[3] SurfControl, and Microsoft.[4]
Authentium ESP (Extensible Security Platform) Enterprise Edition enables enterprise customers to manage multivendor antivirus, antispyware, backup and other desktop security software.[5]
In July 2006, Authentium announced the release of VirtualATM, a technology designed to allow banks to create secure environments for online transactions, enable compliance with guidelines from the Federal Financial Institutions Examinations Council (FFIEC), and provide additional safeguards for their customers' critical financial information.[6]
In October, 2006, Authentium researchers claimed that technology related to its Virtual ATM offering could bypass Microsoft's Kernel Patch Protection technology.[7] Ordinarily Kernel Patch Protection would initiate a bug check and shut down the computer if the Windows kernel is modified in a manner not supported by Microsoft.[8][9]
On March 7th, 2007, the founder of Command Software Systems, Dyan Dyer, died after a prolonged illness.[10]
