I'd like to propose this infobox style for the state and territory template, to be used as standard. Modifications may be required, but I think the parameterised version is clearer. --Cyberjunkie 15:56, 8 Apr 2005 (UTC)

With the new maps there is no reason the background of the Map section needs to be white anymore (they have transparent backgrounds). It could be changed to match the grey, like the City info box does. The maps are available at User:Martyman/My Images/Maps. --Martyman-(talk) 12:44, 12 October 2005 (UTC)

I rather like the white background - it breaks up the solid grey of the infobox. The background for the City Infobox still appears as white for me in IE, though it is transparent in Firefox.--Cyberjunkie | Talk 13:48, 12 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Proposed new look

I have created a new look for this template. This look is meant to help this template more closely resemble (and function like) other geographic infoboxes such as (Template:Infobox Country, Template:Infobox city, and Template:Infobox U.S. state. Those templates all use common css. See Wikipedia:Geographical infoboxes for more information. Also, I think this version is more appealing. Looks good. Just one thing; for all the rankings e.g. 3rd in population, 2nd in Gross State Product, could these link to the appropriate article automatically (e.g. List of Australian states by ranking#By population for pop. rankings)?
