[edit] Holden Ute to be Exported to US

2008-03-15

It has been confirmed that the Holden VE Commodore Ute (pictured) will be exported to the United States and sold there under the Pontiac badge in 2009. The deal has ended years of speculation of the export; and confirms Holden as a 'key cog' in the General Motors development plan.

The Commodore Ute will serve as a 'spiritual successor' to the Chevrolet El Camino, which was discontinued in 1987. The new ute will be called the Pontiac Sport Truck, and will join its Australian counterpart, the G8 which is yet to be released.
