In May 1944 Jews from Subcarpathian Russia (then part of Hungary) undergo a "Selektion" on the ramp at the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp. The officer in front holding a riding crop is either SS Unterscharfuehrer Wilhelm Emmerich or SS Haupsturmfuehrer Georg Hoecker; inmates in striped uniforms--to be killed at a later date--assigned to the "Kanada" section collect the property. Note the physician in the white coat between the columns, Gyorgy Havas, selecting who is sent immediately to death and who will wait.

Believe the author of this may have been a Frearson, or Frearson Brothers of Norseman, Dundas, Western Australia who had the first newspaper there. Also had newspaper in King Street, Adelaide where other family operated doing maps. Some brothers moved to Norseman 1890's and settled there some 18 years. Septimus Frearson was a Councillor of the Shire of Dundas at the time of proposed recession with newspaper articles related to visit by Premier John Forrest.
