Aunjanue L. Ellis (born 21 February 1969) is an American actress known for her roles in Ray and in Undercover Brother as the catfighting Sistah Girl.

Ellis was born in San Francisco, California and raised on her grandmother's farm in Mississippi.[1] She attended Tougaloo College in Jackson, Mississippi before transferring to Brown University where she completed her undergraduate studies. She then got her BA in African-American studies from Brown University, and studied acting in the graduate drama program at NYU.

In January 2004 she was a featured player in actress Regina Taylor's play, Drowning Crow, at the Manhattan Theatre Club.
